Accessibility
Our commitment to making the Chamber website usable by everyone. Last reviewed 2026-05-16.
Our commitment
The Buckeye Valley Chamber of Commerce is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, regardless of ability or technology. Our target standard is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at conformance level AA, which is also the standard used in the Americans with Disabilities Act case law and in the European Accessibility Act.
What we have done
- Skip to content link. A keyboard-reachable skip link appears at the top of every page so you can jump past the navigation.
- Semantic structure. Pages use real headings, landmarks (header, main, footer), lists, and form labels.
- Keyboard navigable. Every interactive control is reachable and operable with the keyboard alone. Focus is always visible.
- Reading-settings toolbar. The button in the bottom corner of every page lets you adjust text size and enable high-contrast mode. Your preference is remembered on your device.
- Reduced motion respected. If you have “Reduce motion” turned on in your operating system, we do not run page animations.
- Color contrast. Body text and key interactive elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratios against the warm newsprint background.
- Mobile and tablet. Layouts adapt to phones, tablets, and desktop without forcing horizontal scrolling.
- Language identified. The page language is marked as English so screen readers pronounce content correctly.
Known issues
- Map view alternatives. The interactive member map is the most challenging surface to use with assistive technology. For keyboard and screen-reader users, the list view under the “List view” tab on the Directory page gives the same information in a fully accessible format. We continue to improve the map controls.
- Member-submitted images. Logos and photographs submitted by member businesses may not always include alt-text. We are working through the directory to add descriptive alt-text where it is missing.
- PDF documents. The Resource Center contains documents hosted outside this site. Their accessibility is not under our direct control. If you cannot read a document, please contact the Chamber and we will arrange an accessible alternative.
